This was my first attempt at a military knife. It was given to a family friend who was in the Norwegian FSK. The handle broke in half in cold weather use. Whoops, start again!

This is the continuation of the First Commander as given to a family friend in the Norwegian FSK. This design was a compression but cap and he still has it to this day after nearly twenty years of use. 

For the first three years of my career I had very bad luck in getting any written articles in the knife making press. I had the thought of writing to the Royal Marine Commando Magazin Globe & Laurel. They were very kind in allowing me to present an article on my design of a modern military field knife. This was very unusual as the Globe & Laurel rarely has an outside writer writing an article for it. I was very honoured to achieve this and since then I have worked steadily to improve the Commander from the MkI you see here, to the Mk7 you can see here: Commander #29.

Commander in Templar Steel. Prize for the top student at the Royal Marine Commando ML2 Course (Mountain Leader 2 course SF). ML2 course is considered the toughest military course the Britisch military offers (apart from Jungle training). A staggering 20% only pass ML2. 40% pass British Tier 1 SF.

The last photographs is the first Commander I made (see also this article). The MK I is from 2003 and the MK VII is 2016, 13 years of constant development and use by professional outdoor men and women, mountain leaders, tracking experts, my friends in this quest for excellence. The Commander 24 was presented to the top student of the toughest Special Forces course Mountain Leader II (a 20% pass rate).

#30: Fehu-Commander, 18 cm, modified spear point, all carbon steel, random damast. Modified zero edge with tanto point. Secondary handle type. I developed an idea for an bayonet mount to attach the knife to a quarter staff, making it into a very effective boar spear.

This is Commander #31. Bowie (clip point), sandwich Damast, 17 cm blade. Scout carry sheath on holster paddle. Presented to a sniper instructor in the US Army who has extensive field and operational service.
All the knives I make are dedicated to Saint Brigid/Brigid, the Celtic goddess who protects smiths.
